1-on-1 Care Not Provided Correctly to High Risk Patient

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services cited Riveredge Hospital for failing to correctly implement one-on-one patient monitoring for a patient deemed to be at risk of assault. CMS found that “The staff assigned assigned to Pt #2 was sitting in the hall, approximately 10 feet from the patient, not at arms length as required.” The failure to provide close patient monitoring had the effect of  “placing all patients and staff on the unit at risk.”
