Admissions Exceeded Allowed Number of Beds

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services cited Hartgrove Hospital for exceeding the patient census for the allowed number of licensed beds. The hospital was authorized by the state to have 136 patients, but it had exceeded this number on 52 different days in a three month period. The hospital had a census of 145 patients on the day it was inspected by CMS. The CEO stated that there were 152 beds in patient rooms and 8 roll-away beds that were sometimes placed in handicap rooms to accommodate new admissions or to separate patients if needed.
