Federal Health Inspectors Found Unsecured Medications

During a federal re-certification survey, health inspectors with the Department of Health and Human Services found that River Point Behavioral Health failed to store and maintain its drugs and biologicals in accordance with Federal and State laws. Inspectors observed a medication cart being used to prop open the door of a medication room on the Adolescent Unit. The cart was unlocked and contained patients’ names and medications, while medications inside the room were readily accessible. Inspectors also found that the medication room was not observable on the facility’s video surveillance system.
