Hospital Fails to Ensure Nurses Evaluate Medical Conditions of Two Patients

Millwood Hospital was cited by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for failing to ensure its registered nurses properly supervised and evaluated the nursing care of two patients. In one case, there was no nursing documentation indicating a patient with elevated blood pressure upon admission was monitored for this condition. In another incident, there was “no documentation indicating [the patient’s] respiratory status and/or medical treatment” despite the patient’s upper respiratory infection. The facility had to submit a plan of correction to address its cited deficiencies and deficient policies to ensure medical follow-up care is provided and documented.
