Hospital Fails to Timely Report Patient Altercations to State

Cedar Springs Behavioral Health was cited by the Colorado Department of Public Health for failing to timely report a physical altercation between two patients. Two male patients were fighting and had to be separated by staff. One patient had to be physically managed and had sustained a laceration above his eyebrow, which required a trip to the ER for stitches. The state determined that it was unclear whether the patient’s injury resulted from the altercation with the fellow patient or from the staff intervention.
