Patient Claimed She was Raped because Facility Lacked Security

A former patient sued Canyon Ridge Hospital, alleging that a male patient came into her room and raped her while she was heavily medicated with a sleeping pill. She alleges that the facility failed to provide a safe environment for its patients because it had little to no security, no procedures to segregate male and female patients, provided little patient supervision, and failed to adequately train staff on how to protect patients from being sexually exploited by violent patients. She alleges this incident was able to occur, even though her room was in close proximity to the nurse’s station.

This case appears to have been dismissed.
