Patient Dies at Summerlin Hospital; Family Files Lawsuit Claiming Defendants Failed to Properly Examine Patient

Decedent was admitted to Summerlin on Nov. 7, 2013 with abdominal pain. Plaintiffs, Decedent’s family, allege that due to negligence by Dr. Hamid, Decedent died of gallbladder torsion. Plaintiffs allege that Dr. Hamid failed to physically examine Decedent despite continuing complaints of abdominal pain after being admitted. Plaintiffs further allege Defendants failed to order the appropriate tests, seek appropriate consults, and conduct appropriate examination, which breached the standard of care.

This case has been remanded to state court and is ongoing.
