Patient Restraint Violates State Law

Timberlawn Mental Health was cited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for failing to assure that a patient’s restraint was in accordance with state law. A 15-year old patient was transferred to another hospital in a “transfer jacket,” but there was no documentation specifying the justification for its use, the length of time the patient was to remain in the transfer jacket given his age, or the behavioral expectations necessary for the restraint to be removed.
